The stage is almost set…

There are just two days until our Christmas Concert with Bournville Choirs.

On Saturday night, a concert is being held at St Francis Church, Bournville and will feature the City of Birmingham Brass Band, Bournville-Vocal-Ease Ladies Choir, St Francis Children’s Choir, and Bournville Bell Choir.

With a mixed programme of traditional Christmas carols, and lively festive pieces, this promises to be an entertaining evening for all.

In addition to the music, there will also be a raffle, mulled wine and a cake sale.

Tickets are available from the St Francis Church Parish office or on the door. For more information, see the poster below. See you there!

Festive fun at Frankfurt Christmas Market

With the Christmas season in full swing the Band is busy carolling in and around Birmingham.

After our fanfare to open the Frankfurt Christmas Market, we returned on Saturday with more carols.

The market was filled with food and drink (which the band made the most of) and plenty of visitors, so it was great to be once again part of this annual spectacle.

That evening it was time for our Christmas social (involving more food and drinks…).

Don’t forget that we’re back at the Christmas Market on the 14th December from 2pm-4pm if you’d like to hear us.

If you’re looking for something more formal, our Christmas concert with Bournville Choirs is this Saturday. Tickets are available now from the St Francis Church parish office (0121 472 7215) and on the door on the day.

CBBB return to the German Market

You’ll be pleased to hear that we’re back at the German Market this weekend to entertain!

Earlier this month we performed at the official opening ceremony of the Frankfurt Christmas Market in Victoria Square, Birmingham.

Now we’re back on the 30th November as part of the entertainment for the festival. Find out more here. We’ll be in Victoria Square from 2pm-4pm so do drop by.

If you’re unable to join us this time, this is one of a number of carolling events and concerts we’re hosting over the festive period. You can find out where we’re performing on our events calendar.

A fond farewell

We’re sorry to have said goodbye to our soprano player Oli who rehearsed with us for the last time this week.

Oli has been a dedicated member of the City of Birmingham Brass Band since 2104 and he will be sorely missed as he makes the exciting move to Norway for a new job.

We wish him all the best in his next adventure!

Celebrating Silver Sunday

Silver Sunday is a special day in the national calendar when everyone can come together to celebrate older people.

We played our part by entertaining the residents of Bournville Gardens Retirement Village. A programme of entertainment pieces and Proms favourites had the audience on their feet, waving their flag and singing along.

Thank you for having us and we look forward to returning in December with some Christmas classics.

Concert – Albert, France

Concert at Theatre du Jeu de Paume, Albert, France – organised as part of the tribute to the cities of war.

The band has a varied repertoire ranging from traditional fanfare music to modern music, classical works, film music and popular melody arrangements. There will be something for everyone.   Free concert.

One rehearsal to go…

We’re almost ready for our visit to France! With one rehearsal to go until we depart for Albert, the band have been putting the final touches to the programme.

For the concert in the Theatre du Jeu de Paume on Friday 20th September, we’ve selected pieces to mark the relationship between the city of Birmingham and the town of Albert. To begin we will play commemorative pieces and classical numbers by composers from both sides of the channel. To end, we have included some popular numbers from stage and screen to entertain the audience.
