In November 2016 the band were proud to welcome Ben as our Musical Director, as the start of an exciting new chapter for the band.

He is a keen musician and plays the Bass Trombone, Percussion and Piano. Ben is a committed brass-bander and has played with bands from all over the Midlands.
During his final years of school, Ben was awarded a scholarship to study Bass Trombone at Birmingham Conservatoire. There he studied Bass Trombone, Bass Sackbut and Contrabass Trombone under the instruction of Robert Hughes FRSM, David Vines, Chris Houlding and Susan Addison. Ben developed his conducting skills further after taking over the Birmingham Conservatoire Brass Band for a concert in the spring of 2015 and after impressing an audience member, he was invited to become the Assistant Musical Director of Amington Band.
In his spare time, Ben plays regularly with the Bierhoff Oom Pah Band, enjoys arranging for different ensembles and looking after his 2-yearold son, Noah.
Ben currently works building prototype cars for Jaguar Land Rover and hopes to pursue a career within the company.
