From playing in concert halls to playing in parks, from raising money for charity to regular trips to the pub – City of Birmingham are in every sense a traditional British brass band.
Engagements in Birmingham include regular performances in the city centre and taking part in a number of civic events, as well as entertaining audiences at a variety of concert venues. During the summer months, the band can be found in parks and bandstands in and around Birmingham.
The band has a broad repertoire to suit its wide variety of audiences. This ranges from traditional and modern brass band music, through classical works arranged for brass, to film/television theme tunes and arrangements of popular melodies.
Now based at Selly Park Tavern, we are looking forward to continuing to develop our links with other local community groups, particularly through our collaborative concerts with choirs from around the region. We’ve also worked with singers, dancers, actors, African drummers, film makers and composers to ensure that our concerts are unique. As a result they’re attracting a growing audience, and we’re building a reputation as a band that can put on quite a show!
As well as our concert schedule, the band usually enters a couple of competitions a year. Usually including the Midlands area contest at Bedworth, where we are graded in the 4th section; and the West Midlands Brass Band Association contest at Pershore.
The band would like to thank all its audiences for their continued support.
